Even though Blessing Oborududu become the first Nigerian to guaranteed of silver or gold medal, Ese Brume become the first and only Nigerian that has her name appear in Olympic medal table.
She won bronze in the women long jump event, Malaika Mihambo of Germany won gold while Brittney Reese of USA won silver.
Ese won bronze medal with her best jump of 6.97m. while Mihambo jump 7.00m for her final attempt to register her best jump of the season.
Meanwhile the 2012 Olympic champion Reese that was leading with 6.97m would have made one final attempt to reclaim her lead back but the American was unable to match Mihambo jump after she register 6.84m to collect silver.
In 2016 Olympics games for Rio Ese was the only Nigerian athlete to reach the final of the event but she finished for fifth position
Ese Brume from Delta State, from South-South Nigeria.
She was born on January 20, 1996. Age 25 years old.
She won her first Olympics medal for Tokyo games as she claimed Bronze medal for Long Jump event.
